For Yugen's first release, we tapped local hero Joel Shanahan (A.K.A Golden Donna, Purpura, Auscultation) for a four-track ep. Over the years, Joel's awe-inspiring performances, tasteful bookings, and commitment to covering local happenings for Tonemadison.com have done well to bolster the small but dedicated electronic music scene in Madison, WI.

The title track, "Alone In the City", is a bouncy, playful jaunt accented with crisp hi-hats and a washed-out vocal sample. "Jesuit Kiss" crescendos into a dense soundscape of crystal chords and wispy resonance chirps anchored by an infectious bassline. "Sake" evokes a cosmic flight. Skippy drums and dripping synths are guaranteed to give even the most experienced space travelers goosebumps. The closing track, "Palisade", features minimal drum sequencing allowing the rhythmic elements of the stuttering stabs, sweeping pads, and delayed bassline to flow together unrestricted.
